This “Read Me” file will guide you in the installation of the HyperStudio Preview onto your hard drive. It also gives important instructions on using this preview.
Note: You can print this document by selecting the “Print” command from the “File” menu.
Installing to your Hard Drive:
To use the HyperStudio Preview, you must first install it on your hard drive. Here’s how to do just that:
• Double-click the “Preview Installer” file located on this disk.
• Select “Continue” in the information dialog box; when the second dialog appears, locate your hard drive.
• Once you’ve located your hard drive, click once on the button called “Save”. This begins the installation process.
• After installation has been successful, you’ll be returned to the Finder. From there, open the folder titled “HyperStudio Preview”.
• Locate the File titled “HyperStudio Demo” and double-click this file. This begins the HyperStudio demonstration.
Using the HyperStudio Preview:
This special version of HyperStudio is a full-working program with the exception that you cannot save edited or new projects back to disk; and, you cannot add more than four cards per stack. All other functions work just like the regular version of HyperStudio.
We suggest that you explore the demonstration in its entirety before trying the program on your own. However, don’t be afraid to experiment! You can’t hurt HyperStudio or your computer by trying out new things! If you get really lost, simply quit the program and start over.
Creating Your Own Project:
You can create projects just as you would with the regular version of HyperStudio. We’ve included several sound files that you can use in your project. There’s also picture of the U.S.A. you can use as a background and a clip art file.
Here’s a few steps and that will help you be on your way to creating your own project. Again, before continuing here, we suggest you go through the demonstration first.
1. Create a new project: To start a new project, select “New” from the “File” menu.
2. Adding New Cards: To add a new card, select “New Card” from the “Edit Menu”.
3. Adding a Button: Select “Add a Button...” from the “Objects” menu. Select the style of button you want, give it a name, and click “OK”. Position the button on the card where you want it to appear by placing the arrow cursor on the button and dragging the button to the location you want it on the screen. When it’s where you want it, click once “outside” of the button to “place” it on the screen. The button actions dialog box appears allowing you to decide what the button will do.
4. Loading a Background: Select “Load Background” from the “File” menu. This will allow you to select a picture to load as the card’s background.
5. Adding Clip Art: Select “Add Clip Art” from the file menu. Choose a picture file from the dialog box. Use the marquee tool or the lasso tool to select the clip art you want, then click “OK”. The graphic will be placed on the screen. Use the arrow cursor to position the graphic anywhere on the screen. When you’ve placed the graphic where you want it, click once on the outside of the graphic to “place” it on the screen.
Making Copies of this Disk - Please Do It!
You are authorized to make copies of this HyperStudio preview disk and give it to your friends, user group, mom, or whoever might be interested in trying out HyperStudio. Please be sure this Read Me file is included with any copies you distribute. We do ask, of course, that you do not make copies of the real version of HyperStudio. This would not be nice, nor legal.
